-- If you're going as crazy for tapas as everyone else, and you happen to be in the Hamptons, you must eat at HELENA'S in Sag Harbor,NY.
You won't find a dark or brooding Spain here, but bright canary walls beautifully painted with primary-colored, Miro-esque designs. The colors of Spain, red, yellow, and black, are everywhere. The floor is yellow. The bar is yellow. The sun seems to shine on you when you walk in. Small plates of everything--from manchego cheese to pulpo with pimenton and virgin olive oil--are offered at lunch and dinner. Helena Mander from Barcelona is the creative chef-genius behind the whole concept and at her side in the kitchen is Emmett Halliday, a solid veteran from the trenches of many multi-starred restaurants. Out in the front of the house the most charming and exotic Rose Reyes will make your experience at Helena's truly unforgettable!
A swank cocktail lounge reconstructed from the ashes of an old diner. Located at 138 Market St. in the heart of Olde City, Philadelphia. Uniquely designed with its large olive lamps peirced by a giant toothpick above the tables and in the newest addition to the restaurant space, an illuminated bar, à la "The Milk Bar," from Kubrick's vision of "A Clockwork Orange." Besides being the coolest thing going in Philly, the once-hash-slinging space serves some of the best small plates around. Though tapas in style, these plates are far too big to be considered tapas, but definitly smaller than typical entrees. Parties that share plates with one another will experience the most that Wunderkind chef Bradley Bartram and sous chef Raul Bacardo have to offer in the way of their global cuisine focusing on the Pan-Asian tip. Belly up to the bar and dine on some Tuna Carpaccio with a ginger-cured Salmon Tartare w/ Lotus Chips, or Grilled Sea Bass with Asian Corn Pudding (creamy polenta with coconut milk) and tomato coulis and yucca fries. Best vegetarian steamed dumplings ever!!!! 215-923-6069 dinner nightly 5 pm-11pm late night menu Thurs-Fri-Sat till 1 am Sunday Brunch 11 am-3 pm
